Why are we continuing CIRKOLUTION!?
In 2026, CIRKOLUTION! Mini Art Fest reaches its 15th edition and continues its mission to develop contemporary and social circus as an art form, a space for encounters, and a tool for social change.
From September 25 to 27, the Regional Center for Contemporary Arts Toplocentrala will once again transform into a circus space—featuring performances, circus workshops, professional meetings, and music. Over the years, the festival has featured over 400 Bulgarian and international artists, building connections between the Bulgarian scene and the contemporary European circus. Since 2019, the “Mini Art” Foundation has been a member of the Circostrada Network, which creates new opportunities for international exchange, partnerships, and professional development.
What can we expect in 2026?
The MAF15 program brings together the various facets of contemporary circus—clowning, juggling, dance, physical theater, breaking, and new circus forms.
Among the international highlights is NINE TO FIVE by Asaf Mor / Cie Circographie—a solo performance combining clowning, juggling, and dance that humorously explores the work routine, overproductivity, and the absurdity of modern office life. METANOIA by Daniel Molina uses physical and circus language as a space for personal transformation and interaction with the audience, while LUMO continues the artistic thread from the festival’s previous edition.
The Bulgarian scene is represented by Naroden Cirk (Folk Circus)—a production of the Mini Art Foundation, directed by Dario Tabakoff, which brings together contemporary circus with Bulgarian folk traditions, dance, clowning, and urban culture. The program also features Dani Belev, Sofia City Breakers, and other artists and performance formats.
Circus as Dialogue, Participation, and Care
Circus Debate continues as a professional platform for bringing together artists, organizations, cultural operators, and international partners. The forum focuses on the development of contemporary and social circus in Bulgaria, the need for spaces for training and performance, international exchange, audience engagement, and the sustainable development of the sector.
The social circus remains an important part of the festival’s identity. The program includes workshops on clowning, juggling, acrobatics, unicycling, and breakdancing, which transform the audience from observers into active participants. Through these workshops, the circus also serves as an accessible tool for education, physical activity, social inclusion, communication, and building self-confidence.
From the Circus to Music
The festival evenings continue with concerts and informal gatherings between artists, professionals, and the audience, including a concert by Dario Bulgario. In this way, CIRKOLUTION! creates a space where the circus meets dance, music, and urban culture.
With its 15th edition, we continue to build a festival that showcases Bulgarian and international contemporary circus, supports new creative work, develops social circus, attracts new audiences, and connects Bulgaria to the European professional scene.
We believe that the circus is more than just a show. It is movement, risk, trust, care, connection, and an opportunity to see the world in a different way.
And that is exactly why CIRKOLUTION! continues.
