Circus Playground

Within the framework of the international forum Circus Debate Bulgarian and international professionals and experts working in the field of circus, social work, and architecture will discuss the place and development of social circus both in Bulgaria and abroad.

Part of the program includes a presentation of the activities related to the social circus of the Mini Art Foundation, such as working with children and young people on the autism spectrum, adults with disabilities, and children and young people from refugee reception centers in Bulgaria.

The CIRCARE project, funded by the Erasmus+ K2 program within the Small Partnerships in Adult Education program, is a social circus project organized by the Mini Art Foundation with our partner organizations Circo all’Incirca from Udine, Italy, and Sargantana Circ Inclusiu from Valencia, Spain.

Last but not least, the project for integrating the circus into the urban environment – Circus playground – will also be discussed. The Circus playground is a facility, a playground that offers the practice of circus disciplines in an open and accessible place 24/7. It is a new type of facility that provides access to circus disciplines for children, young people, older people, and people with special needs. Circus disciplines such as balance, tightrope walking, aerial acrobatics, juggling, etc. greatly stimulate physical and cognitive skills and develop the creative potential of practitioners. Following the basic principles and methodology of the social circus, we are fully convinced of the enormous potential to create and develop this new type of facility with free access in the central park areas of Sofia.

With the kind participation and assistance of architect Yulia Velichkova.
