“Unstable Ground” is a temporary intervention in the urban environment that draws attention to play and movement as a need and right of everyone in the community.
On a terrain of gently swaying, ringing boards, the project offers a dance performance and is open to improvisational and movement explorations by other artists and the audience during CIRKOLUTION! Mini Art Fest 14.
What does it mean to be a man? Where does the need for stability come from? What can we replace it with when lack of control and our unexpected interconnectedness turn out to be the only constants?
The dance performance “Three Men on Unstable Ground” follows the journey of three men through a turbulent and unstable world. Starring Bratan Bratanov, Danny Kearns, and Velizar Gruev, who intertwine the principles of play and sudden composition in a series of fantastic scenes, based on a variety of contemporary movement techniques for connecting with the earth and with each other.
The director and choreographer of the performance is Silvia Cherneva, co-founder of the Room Temperature association, who, together with Lyubov Zheglova, founder of the Sofia Map for Children platform, are the authors of the concept and the design of the Unstable Ground installation. The musical arrangement is entirely created from the sounds of the installation, designed by Alexander Evtimov-Shamancheto and Alexander Daniel.
Outside of the performance, the space will remain open for play and exploration without any specific performative focus for the entire duration of the installation.
