What does it mean to play, what can a playground space look like, and who has the right to use it?
The workshop is for children and adults, and in it we will explore the possibilities of the installation, such as rhythmic swaying and interconnectedness. We will work with various techniques used in dance performance, and we will remain open to discovering new games and tasks. One of the main goals of the installation is to awaken the desire to play, experiment, and move.
Creating a collective rhythm and feeling others through the earth.
“Unstable Ground” is a temporary intervention in the urban environment that draws attention to play and movement as a need and right of everyone in the community. Instead of a single swing, the installation represents a landscape of connected swinging boards that produce music when pressed. On a terrain of soft, swinging, ringing boards, the project offers a dance performance and is open to improvisational and movement explorations by other artists and the audience during CIRCULATION! Mini Art Fest 14.
The director and choreographer of the performance is Silvia Cherneva, co-founder of the “Room Temperature” association, who, together with Lyubov Zheglova, founder of the platform “Map of Sofia for Children”, are the authors of the concept and design of the installation “Unstable Ground”. The musical arrangement is entirely created from the sounds of the installation, designed by Alexander Evtimov-Shamancheto and Alexander Daniel.
Outside of the performance and workshop schedule, the space will remain open for play and exploration without any specific performative focus for the entire duration of the installation.
